Dates for La Liga 2025/26

The 2025/26 season of La Liga, officially called LALIGA EA SPORTS, will begin on August 17, 2025 and end on May 24, 2026. It is the 95th edition of Spain's top football league, with Barcelona entering as the defending champions after securing their 28th league title in the previous season.

Matches and Schedule

The full schedule for the season was announced on July 1, 2025. We now know which teams will meet in the opener and how the schedule looks for the classic rivalries such as El Clásico, the derbies in Madrid and Sevilla, as well as other key matches during the season. Newcomers and Changes Ahead of the Season

Three teams have been promoted from the Segunda División:

• Levante returns to the top division after three years.
• Elche is back after two seasons in the second division.
• Oviedo returns to La Liga after a 24-year absence.

At the same time, Valladolid, Las Palmas, and Leganés have been relegated after the 2024/25 season.

Coaching Changes Ahead of the Season

Among the most notable changes on the coaching bench are Xabi Alonso, who takes over Real Madrid from Carlo Ancelotti, and Matías Almeyda, the new coach of Sevilla.
